Sleep
I remember saying, a long time ago, when I was a kid, that I wanted to die in my sleep. Since then I've noticed how hundreds of kids repeat the same wish. Painless and peaceful. They think.
I grew up, sort of, and changed to wanting to die in some thrilling way. Then settled on a good cause as the best way and reason.
Sleep is over-rated. A waste of time, even. Aside from the fact that it's full of horrible dreams.
There is so much in the night that makes sleep seem unfair. And so much in the day that must be done.
But you can't have it both ways. Because when you miss enough of it, you can feel it killing you.
So I call wakefulness a good cause and find pleasure in dying for it.

I too believe sleep is a waste of time, as is (sometimes it seems) eating. But I love sleep, I love it shamelessly -- the rub is that my sleep is spotty and restless ridden. There are only a few things in life that give the satisfaction of a full, deep sleep. . .
